Football Balls

[102]

IT ALL STARTS WITH THE RIGHT FOOTBALL BALL

While a good pair of football boots will go a long way, it should go without saying that a reliable ball is at the centre of any footy game, any training regime and all aspects of the ‘beautiful game’. In the very earliest days of the sport, this usually meant an inflated pig bladder of any size. But since 1863, the ‘Laws of the Game’ that govern association football have specified the exact size and weight of the ball that should be used (a circumference of 68-70cm weighing between 410g and 450g, if you’re interested). Today, adidas’ engineers still design soccer balls to these exacting standards, using advanced materials for peak performance. But as well as the official size five football, you’ll find a range of smaller footballs for training and for kids right here at adidas.

ADIDAS BALLS FOR EVERY PLAYER

Having a high-quality ball that’s suited to the game you play is essential to get the most out of your game. adidas has been making soccer balls for more than sixty years, and in that time, we’ve perfected the art of making balls fit for any situation – the rest is up to you. Every adidas ball is engineered to offer the best performance for your game, and when coupled with the right pair of boots, it can make you unstoppable. Featuring high quality materials such as durable polyurethane exteriors and rubber bladders, thermally bonded constructions for extra stability, and eye-catching iconic designs, the football balls here have everything that you need to step up your game. From official World Cup balls to Predator training footballs and Real Madrid and Juventus home mini balls, we’ve got everything you need to rise to the challenge. Want to make your name on the pitch? Pair your new ball with some personalisable football shoes from adidas.

WHICH BALL IS BEST FOR THE FOOTBALL I PLAY?

For most adults, particularly if you’re training as a professional or amateur footballer, one of our standard size 5 match balls is recommended. If you’re just looking for a compact ball that’s easy to pop in your bag for a fun knockabout, consider one of our size 3 or 4 club footballs, featuring designs from your favourite teams (and if you’re wondering how to deflate a soccer ball for travel, simply insert one end of a pump or even a paperclip into the valve and apply light pressure). Smaller balls are ideal for younger players, with size 3 being good for kids under seven years old, and size 4 balls for 8-11 year-olds (be sure to check out adidas’ collection of girls’ and boys’ football shoes too). We’ve also got futsal balls that are smaller and heavier than standard balls, and good for indoor football and practicing skills. Size 1 Is also a good choice for learning tricks. You can find out more about football ball sizes in our handy blog post.
