The construction: There is a flexible gum sole which is simply stitched directly to the upper. There is no midsole. To compensate for this there is a very thick removable foam insole. What does this mean? Firstly it makes the shoe feel like an ankle length welly. It does not feel like a complete shoe at all. There is little if any foot support. Second, these aren’t espadrilles. The ‘espadrille’ strip on the outside is just for effect. Thirdly, the upper overhangs the gum sole, opposite to normal construction. This makes the shoe look and feel way too wide. The upper of this white version is also predominantly a weird stiff plastic material which felt cheap. I rarely return adidas shoes. These were on their way back within an hour.
