It was all about ‘Girl Power’ as the dazzling new adidas kits for UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 were revealed on the steps of an iconic London hotel in April.
The location – which symbolises an iconic moment of pop-culture female empowerment filmed there 26 years ago – provided the perfect backdrop for the launch of the kits, designed to enable players to be the best version of themselves while proudly wearing the colours of their nation.
Created for the national teams of Belgium, Germany, Northern Ireland, Spain and Sweden, the kits represent tradition as well as the confidence of a generation of players set to change the game. The home kits take inspiration from each of the team’s national flags. The away kits feature colours connected to previous iconic jerseys from each team’s history.
“We saw each kit as a canvas for creativity. An opportunity to capture and reimagine the DNA of each nation, connecting players and fans with a shared identity to feel a sense of belonging and confidence over the course of the tournament,”
says Nick Craggs, General Manager, adidas Football.

The international players will be fierce rivals on the pitch, but they’ve come together to highlight the issue of plastic waste through their adidas kits. Their new kits have been made in part with Parley Ocean Plastic and adidas’s sweat-wicking AEROREADY material, designed to keep the wearer feeling comfortable for longer.
The kits will be part of a defining moment in women’s sport. Ticket sales have broken records previously set in 2017, and even more people are set to watch on screens across the world.
“This is a huge moment for football,” says Nick Craggs. “Our aim was to create kits that help the players be the best versions of themselves as they step into the spotlight.”
While adidas has had a partnership with UEFA for decades, it recently committed to continued support for the women’s game, including an official partnership until 2025. Last year, adidas became the exclusive global sponsor of DAZN’s UEFA Women’s Champions League coverage, with one of the matches drawing a combined live audience of 3.2 million viewers on YouTube.
As well as watching the beautiful game, fans too can feel a part of this defining era. Replica kits are available to purchase from adidas stores and retailers, with the Northern Ireland kit exclusively available through JD.
