LYCRA® shorts
When it was first invented almost sixty years ago, LYCRA® revolutionised sports apparel, and it has been making a difference ever since. LYCRA® is an unusually light and stretchy variety of elastane that can be blended with other fibres or used on its own to create strong, lightweight, figure-hugging clothes. One of the most important advances in sportswear design was the ability to precisely calibrate the amount of muscle compression needed by a particular garment, adidas LYCRA® shorts, for example. Once the correct degree of compression has been calculated and built into the design, the item of clothing will enhance performance not only by supporting muscles and circulation and providing unparalleled freedom of movement but also because its ‘second-skin’ qualities mean that there is no chafing, no surface rashes, no pinching, and no constraints on movement.
There is nothing quite like LYCRA® shorts
adidas uses LYCRA® for many of the items in the range because it improves shorts for cycling, running, field sports, basketball, etc. for all the reasons above and also because it guarantees that garments will keep their shape and snug fit wash after wash. Shorts have to be strong and reliable—sports stars cannot give their best performances if they are worrying about whether their sports kit might rip or split under the strain of a record-breaking jump or kick and so it is important to choose a brand you can trust. The adidas name and the distinctive 3-Stripes seam-flashings are synonymous with top quality stitching and bonding techniques, so you can rest assured that manufacturing standards match the quality of the carefully engineered LYCRA® fabrics in the adidas LYCRA® shorts range.
LYCRA® can also be a fashion statement
LYCRA® also allows designers to explore fascinating patterns and unusual colourways, safe in the knowledge that colours will not fade or run.
