The half-balls are a symbol of our belief that the world is missing out on half the game if we don’t embrace and support women’s football.
So we’re delighted to reveal that the next step in our global partnership with Common Goal is aimed at increasing access to football for women and girls around the world.
1% of net sales of Official Match Balls of the FIFA WC will be pledged solely to projects focused on gender equity. The investment will allow the expansion of Common Goal’s ‘Global Goal 5 Accelerator’ framework.
GLOBAL GOAL 5 ACCELERATOR
Global Goal 5 Accelerator is a collective project between Common Goal, Soccer Without Borders, Women Win and Fundación Selección Colombia to advance the efforts of grassroots organisations towards gender equality.
The programme focuses on increasing girls’ participation as well as the proportion of female coaches in football for good community programmes, ensuring that every girl participant has a female athlete role model in their community.
Our investment will facilitate the expansion of the ‘Global Goal 5 Accelerator’ across Latin America, the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Europe making a real impact for the game across the globe.
COUNTDOWN TO AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND 2023
As the men’s tournament comes to a close we want to encourage people to get excited about the next big moment in the international football calendar - The FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023.
Stats from GWI suggest that only 14.1% of Men’s World Cup Gen Z fans will continue their support into next year’s tournament. Which means the vast majority of them are missing out on half the game. Half the excitement, half the drama, half the skill, half the passion.
We believe that everyone wins if we work towards a gender equal football future, which is why this is just one of the steps we’re taking to help make it a reality.
