UPPER TECHNOLOGIES

The upper shapes the silhouette of a shoe and therefore defines its style and look. It provides support and protection for the foot: engineered and designed with different materials, uppers are typically constructed to suit the specific needs of the sport or activity - ease of motion, support, protection, lightness, durability, feel, breathability, insulation, waterproof.

WOVEN

Woven fabric is any textile formed by weaving. Technically, a woven fabric is made by interlacing two or more threads at 90 degree angles. In ripstop textures, thicker reinforcement threads are interwoven at regular intervals in a crosshatch pattern. PROS: high abrasion resistance and closed structure for higher water resistance. CONS: limited breathability and stretch and strength dependent on yarn properties.

MESH

Mesh is a loosely woven or knitted fabric that has a large number of closely spaced holes building a net-like structure. There are different kinds of mesh fabrics. PROS: breathability, lightweight and comfortable. CONS: high flexibility, insulation in colder weather and water resistance.

MIDSOLE TECHNOLOGIES

The midsole is the most important functional element of a sports shoe: It provides cushioning (shock absorption) and arch support. It offers stability where needed and ensures the right degree of flexibility and energy return when pushing off.

LIGHTSTRIKE PRO

This EVA based midsole material is our most responsive foam compound yet. It stores and returns more energy than ever before. For the runner, it offers premium cushioning, lightweight and high energy return for fast runs and races when every second counts.Benefit: delivers the runner a premium cushioned ride with the highest energy return at an ideal weight.

OUTSOLE TECHNOLOGIES

Provide the best possible grip under all circumstances in the needed application. The outsole is highly relevant for overall performance and safety of a runner. The feet are the only contact points to the ground, with relatively short contact times. Besides structure, construction and pattern of the outsole the main factor that influences performance and safety properties is the hardness of the compound. - SOFTER COMPOUNDS have mostly a higher abrasion but better grip - HARDER COMPOUNDS are longer lasting but might offer less

CONTINENTAL™

Continental™ rubber technology is the best ADIDAS exclusive solution, especially for short contact times which require fast build up of grip. Collaboration: • Continental™ as a strong partner as a market leader in rubber compounds for automotive and bike tires • Since 2012, the Continental™ rubber technology has been used in running shoes • The first ADIDAS shoe with Continental™ running soles that resulted from the performance-driven partnership was designed for trail running • Many more models have been added to the range since • Coloured outsoles have the same performance properties as the black outsoles • Silicone based compound. Technology benefits: • 32% more grip compared with our main competitors • In comparison to competitors, outstanding grip on dry and especially on wet ground • Optimized outsole profile through knowledge exchange with profile design experts from Continental™

ADIWEAR

• An ADIDAS proprietary technology that provides traction on any surface, even in the most unfavourable weather conditions. • High-strength rubber compound used in the production of the outsole. Extends the life and functionality of the shoe considerably • ADIWEAR is comparable to Continental™ technology in terms of abrasion, but it is slightly less grippy..
