It exists to level the playing field for girls and young women by promoting female leadership in areas across education, sports and employment. Together, aFC and Goals 4 Girls aim to tear down the social, emotional and physical barriers that young women face, especially within areas of deprivation.

Their female-led team does this by carrying out programmes – designed by the girls, for the girls – breaking down social and personal barriers to success in education and sport.

One of the biggest problems facing women in sport, and particularly football, is the lack of representation, especially from black and Asian backgrounds, with black athletes only making up 10-15% of the players in the Barclays WSL.

"Goals 4 Girls' mission is to level the playing field for all girls and young women. Their female-led team does this by carrying out programmes – designed by the girls, for the girls – breaking down social and personal barriers to success in education and sport. To achieve this, Goals 4 Girls already have some amazing solutions in play. To date they have provided over 1600 girls with all-female football development programmes in (and outside of) national schools, mentoring programmes focused on well-being and career development, giving girls the opportunity to earn coaching badges and qualifications.

Working to a 5 year strategy, Goals 4 Girls' Football Development Programme aims to connect thousands of girls to social and economic opportunities, to give them a voice and help inspire the upcoming generation of female athletes.
